Fake Anti Virus Messages

There has been a marked increase in fake anti-virus messages. The easiest way to tell if a virus message is legitimate or not is to ask. Whether the message is legitimate of fake, IT should be made aware.

Note that this one “appears” to have been issued by Windows Defender.

Some of these fake messages can actually lock up your browser and it can no longer be closed normally. This is a scare tactic as the browser can be closed manually and, normally, no virus or malware is actually dropped on your computer.

Almost all of these fake messages come from websites that have been infected themselves.
