February SEO Updates

The new year marks a new chapter for the CourseVector SEO Program. We will be updating our SEO clients through the CourseVector newsletter every month or two with changes/research/new happenings to the program. Information will include upgrades to the SEO Program, new plugins we are testing, changes to the Google algorithms, and other important SEO news.

CourseVector SEO Portal

We started 2020 with a bang by upgrading our SEO Portal. Through client feedback we learned that our reports were a bit confusing. We took that feedback to heart and updated our SEO Portal and created an SEO support library to explain each report, how they work together, and which information can be disregarded.

We value our client feedback. Please let us know how we are doing! And don’t forget to post your feedback to Google or Facebook!

Image Optimization

Media File Renaming

The importance of the file names of media files have long since been a factor in SEO ranks. However, during a recent QA with John Mueller of Google, it became even more apparent. Over the past month we have researched different file renaming plugins and will be implementing our selected plugin in our SEO campaigns.

Image Optimization

Speed is always an important aspect when increasing rankings. The faster your site is, the higher your site will rank. We are always looking for ways to increase site speed. Images are consistently what slows a site down. We have been comparing the benefits and cons of different image optimization tools and will be rolling out a plugin to our SEO clients. This new plugin is a paid plugin (the cost of the plugin is included with a CourseVector SEO campaign) and includes a CDN to deliver your images.

SEO Plugin

Yoast vs The SEO Framework

We became aware of a new SEO plugin that made some bold claims with what they can deliver, “The SEO Framework”. We were skeptical at first and ran the plugin through a series of tests. The plugin has passed each test our SEO Specialists have thrown at it so far. The most impressive test was installing the plugin on a site that has been untouched for 6 months and seeing that plugin alone increase the average rank of the site by 10! We are in the final testing stages before switching our SEO campaigns to use this plugin.

Future Research & Testing

XML Sitemaps

WordPress has announced that contributors are working on including an XML sitemap into the core functionality of WordPress. Before including this plugin in the core of WordPress contributors are testing this with a featured plugin . We are keeping up to date with this news to see if the proposed XML sitemap is robust enough for our SEO campaigns.
