your passport to all things web
Spam bot uncovered by researchers contained a massive list of 711 million records that includes email addresses, email and password combinations (some in cleartext), and SMTP credentials and configuration files.
The information in the files will allow much more convincing phishing emails, access to Email address and Email server, possible access to additional online accounts and services, and much more.
This breach could allow an Email to actually be sent from someone’s legitimate Email address making it next to impossible to detect potential security issues.
The group that found these lists have added them to a service which will tell you if your email address has been compromised. If you enter your Email address at Have I Been Pwned, the site will match your Email address with those that have been identified in the breach.
