Founding Partners

About Us -

Mike Vandling, CourseVector’s senior partner, has tried retirement twice, the first time in 1980 when he sold his first successful business, where he employed more than 2200 people and the second time in 1991 when he sold his company, an Internet Service Provider for more than 6000 clients. He soon learned that “retirement” was not a way of life he could live with, so he took a security and programming contract with the Pennsylvania state government, which he still does in addition to what has become not only his hobby but a gratifying way to assist his son-in-law Gabe pursue his life’s dream.

About Us -

Gabriel “Gabe” Mariani, CourseVector’s junior partner and former Air Force Information Technology (IT) specialist got his start programming for small clients while still in high school, and then broadened his programming knowledge considerably while designing multi-media training programs for the military. Prior to realizing his dream of serving in the US Air Force he worked for the Walt Disney Company, helped with development on the Disney Homepage, and US & international websites for Disney Parks and Resorts Online, before moving over to another national brand, Hershey’s. Gabe is now the Lead Programmer for CourseVector and says he truly enjoys providing programming solutions to our client’s programming challenges.

About Us -

Jennifer Mariani, CourseVector’s Operations Manager, Copywriter, and SEO analyst got her start writing training materials for the military for 10 years, before branching out to writing training support manuals for Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police. Jennifer also wrote sales & marketing copy for online businesses while studying SEO. Jennifer is the hands-on project manager for many of CourseVector’s enterprises and still enjoys writing and editing blog spots for customers.

Our Commitment to Community

One of the ways we prove our desire to serve is by providing Website Design to communities and non-profits free of charge when they commit to a two-year hosting contract. We understand it can be difficult stretching already strained budgets to get the message out to the community, so we provide a free platform from which to reach out to that support base. It is our pleasure to give a hand to community outreach programs, such as churches, local fire fighters, youth athletics, and other worthy causes. This is an excellent opportunity to life our faith and use our talents to help these organizations “connect.”

CourseVector’s Military and MilSpouse Experiences

Gabriel

Air Force Veteran

“I come from a family of service members, from my father who held did 20 years as a USAF officer to my grandfather who was a merchant marine in WWII. I had aspired to do 20 years as an officer like my father before me. Unfortunately, without a Bachelors of Science degree, a commission is hard to come by. I eventually enlisted as a GeoSpatial Analyst and was stationed in Virginia Beach. While the schedule was very different than what I was accustomed to (13hrs on and 11hr off and switching from night shift to day shift every six weeks), I believed in what I was doing and enjoyed the experience. The schedule made family life difficult, so I was relieved to get an office position in the last year or so of my enlistment. While I still aspired to become an officer, the cards did not seem in my favor. I eventually got out after my four years were up and returned to PA to work at CourseVector. While my time in the USAF was stressful and tiring, nothing worthwhile is ever easy.”

Air Force Spouse

“When Gabriel was in the military, we were trying to sell our house in PA. He left for basic training. I stayed home with a 2-year-old son. While prepping to sell, I broke my foot. I was a single parent trying to keep my house showroom ready with a 2-year-old boy and a broken foot. This is the way it always goes. When your service member leaves, everything falls apart, breaks, gets rescheduled – you name it. (We went through an earthquake and a hurricane while he was TDY!) When we got to our duty station, he worked a very different shift – 12-on, 12-off. I realize that many people work this shift, but it was an adjustment for us. God bless all our police, firefighters, and other first responders (and their families) who work consistently long and ever-changing hours. You are appreciated!

Gabe and I worked for the military for the first part of our professional lives. His enlistment solidified our core values – service before self. Hard work, dedication, and teamwork carried our family through our time in the military, and it is how we choose to operate our business.”
