Better Access to Feminine Care Makes for a Better Community

CourseVector’s Better Communities $5,000 Grant Winner Revamps Website

What is the “CourseVector Better Communities Award & Grant” all about?

It is simple, CourseVector wants to bring small businesses together, highlight the hardworking givers of the community, and elevate other small businesses to do the same.

When The Givers get to Receive

CourseVector, a veteran owned and operated, web hosting, web design, and digital marketing company based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, partnered with Darren Brown, owner of Advantage Business Network to provide the Better Communities Award in November of 2021. The inaugural recipient of the $5,000 grant was Detroit-based feminine hygiene company Rock Your Month. The grant allowed owner and feller Airman JM Glenn to get off a do-it-yourself platform and have more control over the growth and visibility of her subscription-based website https://rockyourmonth.com.

2020 Grant Award Winner

CourseVector has always made helping smaller businesses and nonprofits who cannot always afford online services a priority. They have offered free and reduced work prices to nonprofits since their inception in 1989. CourseVector decided to take it the to the next level and create the CourseVector  Better Communities Award & Grant.

Glenn states, “[The grant] helped us to revamp our website, so it could be more user friendly for our customers.” “It looks really good. I like that it’s cool and interactive. And it’s pretty user friendly,” customer Destiny shares reactions to the new Rock Your Month website.

Rock Your Month is based around aiding disparaged communities. Outreach programs include young mothers associations in Detroit, product donation drives for women and young children, and working with other organizations. “Partnering with CourseVector they were really able to get everything I had in my mind out onto the canvas of the internet,” says Glenn.

The Birth of Rock Your Month

Jabette Glenn is a mother of four, entrepreneur, and 15-year service member in the United States Air Force. Some might say that Rock Your Month is her fifth child. The idea first came to her when she was on-duty, away from home, and struggling to get access to feminine care products. She also wanted her daughters to have that access while she was away. “The original concept was all about everything coming together all in one box. You don’t have to worry about running to the store, or figuring out how to get there if you don’t have transportation,” Glenn mentions.

Rock Your Month is a monthly subscription-based service that provides feminine care products delivered straight to your door each month. “I really like that they’re not cookie cutter… I also like that they are really making periods normal, and not so taboo,” Rock Your Month customer Destiny says.

A Message to Veterans and Entrepreneurs: Take The Leap

Glenn encourages other entrepreneurs and people at the beginning of their business journeys to stay driven and do not be scared to take risks to start your business. She advises that when you find that passion and dream it’s easier to juggle all the things, and put in the time.

“Find what drives you and what you’re passionate about…and also don’t be afraid to just jump out and do it,” says Jabette. “Take the leap and don’t wait for everything to be perfect, because it will never be perfect.”

CourseVector’s Jennifer Mariani, reminds entrepreneurs to partner with someone that excels in things you are weaker at. Pair yourself with someone that will help you in that area. For example, if you are not strong in website design, find a web designer. “Partnering with people and other professionals that you can trust is huge,” says Jennifer.
