Be on the lookout for top level domains, or TLDs, that look like file extensions. Malicious actors are now using the .zip TLD to fool people into thinking they are downloading a zipped file. Instead, people are unknowingly downloading malicious files. A .zip TLD is not a file extension.
Staying safe online requires us to pay attention to the sites we visit and the links on which we click.
- Be sure to double-check any links you visit.
- Do not click on unsolicited links.
- Keep your anti-virus and anti-malware software and browsers up-to-date.
