Cyber Security Awareness Poster

During a ransomware attack, criminals encrypt your data and demand a ransom to unencrypt your files. But, sometimes the extortion doesn’t stop with a “simple” ransom demand. Some criminals will use Double- or Triple-Extortion to further exploit their victims.
Double-Extortion – the victim must pay a second ransom to data is not leaked online.
Triple-Extortion – individuals must pay a ransom (or ransoms) so that their data is not leaked online.
The best way to combat ransomware is to be a savvy internet user. Do not click on suspicious, malicious links. Do not reply to suspicious, malicious emails. Use two-factor authentication when possible. Don’t use public WIFI if you can help it, and if you do need to use a public hotspot use a VPN. This is not an exhaustive list. Check with your IT department for rules specific to your organization, and check out our other free cyber security posters for more tips on how to stay safe online.
