How to help prevent email account compromise
- Keep software and hardware up to date.
- Use strong passwords, and change them periodically. Use multi-factor authentication where applicable.
- Do not click on links within suspicious emails. This can include “click here” and “unsubscribe” links if an email is suspicious.
- Do not type passwords into suspicious websites.
- Use caution when accessing email (and other sensitive items like bank accounts) using public Wi-Fi.
