It’s important to be aware when working remotely. Whether you travel for work or you work from home, work-issued devices should not be treated like personal devices. Shadow IT can be dangerous when one thinks of a device as their own. It’s important to remember to go through the proper channels to install, change, or remove any software or hardware from a work-issued device.
Here are five more tips to help protect your company’s sensitive data when working remotely:
- Correctly configure your home wi-fi or use a VPN.
- Close all applications when they are not in use. Lock you device when not in use.
- Report lost or stolen devices immediately. Know the reporting procedure.
- Use strong passwords on devices and applications.
- Be aware of when and how you’re sending PII.
